New Arizona Wildcats football coach Rich Rodriguez woke up to some terrible news this morning. Four members of the Wildcat football team were arrested for a brawling at a house party, essentially fighting everyone in their arm’s reach – including women.
Of course, I’m not breaking this news, but felt the need to comment.
What blows my mind is the fact that these kids don’t always realize how recognizable they are on campus. Lets be real – a group of four above-average sized athletes at a party don’t exactly blend in with the rest of the party-goer scene. Just showing up at a campus party puts these student-athletes in jeopardy of losing scholarships, thanks to the camera friendly, smart-phone world we live in. But these four took it to a whole new level with violence toward women.
What really got me was this:
Members of the party identified Grandon after he “punched a female guest in her face with a closed fist and began punching other females in the face.”
What an intelligent move. What is the thought process there? I’ve hit one girl, maybe I should reach out to a few more?
Rich Rodriguez certainly has his work cut out for him in Tucson. Your move, Rich!
