Michigan sophomore forward Evan Smotrycz announced just a few weeks ago that he is leaving the University of Michigan basketball program. At the time, Smotrycz had not made a decision regarding which school/program he would be “taking his talents” to.
This morning, Smotrycz made the announcement public on twitter with this short and sweet statement:
@_ev23: I will be heading to the University of Maryland next year.
There you have it, folks. One piece of the Michigan fallout (though I don’t think they’ll miss him dearly) has found his new home in College Park, Maryland. Reportedly, Smotrycz chose Maryland over Providence and Colorado.
To be honest, I imagined Smotrycz transferring to a mid-major school. It will be interesting to see how he fits in the Terrapin offense.
